The fuel pump on your Grand Prix is part of the fuel sender module inside the fuel tank. However, you can easily remove the module through the trunk without the need to lower the tank. Still, you should be careful when reinstalling the sender module. A badly-positioned floating arm or a bent fuel pump strainer can not only prevent your fuel gauge from working but restrict proper fuel flow from the tank to the engine.

Relieve Fuel System Pressure
Disconnect the negative (black) battery cable using a wrench.
