Some models are equipped with a reverse automatic tilt-down feature for the outside mirrors. With this feature, the selected mirror tilts down when you place the gearshift in reverse. This is designed to help you see objects along the side of your vehicle as you back up. You can turn off this feature if you find it distracting.
Turn Off Reverse Tilt-Down Mirror
Inspect the driver’s side door panel. On the top section of the panel, you’ll see a small knob with the letters “L” and “R” on it. This is the mirror control knob. Insert the key into the ignition and crank engine. Keep the vehicle in park.
Turn the mirror control knob to the “Neutral” position. The selector should be in the center, between the “L” and “R” letters. This deselects either mirror, and disables automatic tilt-down.
