The Polaris Sportsman is an all terrain vehicle (ATV) that comes equipped with four or six wheels. It is an unleaded gas operated motor with a similar starting system to most vehicles. It has a starter motor, starter gears and solenoid. The starter on a Polaris Sportsman requires replacement after failure and does not have a typical life expectancy. With minimal experience, the starter can be removed in about 30 minutes.

Remove the Starter
Park the vehicle on level ground and set the parking brake. Lift the seat latch at the rear of the seat and remove the seat.
