How to Remove a Stereo From a Chevy Malibu


Every year, new aftermarket stereos come on the market to replace factory units in the Chevy Malibu. These stereos are often far more advanced than their factory counterparts. They may include special options like satellite radio connectivity, MP3 jacks, integrated navigation systems, or a more powerful internal amplifier. If you are looking to upgrade the factory stereo in your Chevy Malibu, it is not prohibitively difficult to do it yourself.

Items you will need: Socket wrench with socket set Flat tip screwdriver Philips head screwdriver

Step 1

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Turn the retaining nut on the cable clamp counterclockwise to loosen the clamp until it can be pulled off the negative terminal.
