The 2000 model of the Dodge Ram is known for having very brittle and frail dashboards. There have many complaints of second generation Dodge Ram dashboards breaking after only a couple years of use. If you find that the dashboard on your Ram is cracking or breaking, you should remove it and replace it with a new one. Removing the Ram’s dash if actually fairly simple and takes no more than 15 minutes.
Step 1 Turn the engine of the Ram off and open the hood. Use a socket wrench to unplug the Ram’s battery by removing its negative cable.
Step 2 Use a crosshead screwdriver to uninstall the four retaining screws along the top edge of the Ram’s dash. Uninstall the two screws on each side panel.
