The transmission on a Saturn connects to the front wheels via a pair of half shafts with CV joints mounted at each end. These CV joints are an assembly of bearings, and should they fail, then the half shafts will have to be removed so the joints can be replaced or rebuilt. This is a time-consuming process, and it will take a few hours to do correctly.
