A Ford F-150 with four-wheel drive has torsion bars in the front suspension. These torsion bars act like a straight spring, and the resistance of the steel in the bars supports the weight of the front of the F-150. These torsion bars are adjustable, allowing the owner to fine tune how high or low the front suspension sits. If you want to fine tune your torsion bar-equipped F-150, you can do so with just a little bit of work.
Things You’ll Need: Tape measure, Jack, Jack stands, 1/2-inch ratchet and socket set
- Park the F-150 on a completely level surface. Measure the distance between both the left and right sides of the F-150 and the ground using the tape measure. Take note of these two numbers for future reference.
