The Grand Am has been a staple in Pontiac’s automotive lineup since its inception in 1973 and Pontiac produced five generations before the model’s retirement in 2005. The fifth generation Grand Am — ranging from 1999 through 2005 — was available with either a 2.2 Liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine or a 3.4 Liter V-6 optional engine. Unlike most cars, which house the oil filter along the side or under the engine, the 2.2 engine placed its oil filter under a cap on the top of the engine near the exhaust manifold.
