The 1993 Corvette was manufactured by Chevrolet with two different engine options. The ZR1 model used the LT5 engine, with all other models equipped with the LT1 engine. Both engine types have eight spark plugs and spark plug replacement is similar. The recommended interval to change spark plugs is 24 months or 30,000 miles. Spark plugs are vital to the performance and efficiency of the engine, as they provide the electric spark used to ignite the fuel in each cylinder.
Tools Used: Tools, Needle nose pliers, Spark plug socket, Ratchet, Extensions (various lengths), Spark plugs, Spark plug gap measuring tool
Replace Spark Plugs
Open the hood and remove the spark plug wires from each of the eight spark plugs. Use the needle nose pliers to remove plug wires from difficult to reach plugs. A gentle twisting motion will help loosen difficult to disconnect plug wires.
Remove all eight spark plugs from the engine using the spark plug socket and ratchet. Difficult to reach spark plugs may require the use of various length ratchet extensions.
