Replacing the fuel filter in a 1993 Chevrolet Lumina Eurosport is essential to ensure the vehicle maximizes its power and fuel economy. The filter should be changed every 30,000 miles, as it gets clogged with debris and can cause a build-up of sediment in the fuel line. In some cases, the sediment gets pushed through the fuel line into the engine and can cause engine damage.

Replace a Fuel Filter
Open the hood for access to the engine compartment. Locate the fuse panel behind the battery. Open the fuse panel and locate the fuel relay. The fuse guide is located on the inside of the fuse panel cover. Pull out the relay by hand and place it to the side. Start the car and allow it to idle until the car stalls out. Turn the car off.
Locate the fuel filter underneath the vehicle on the passenger side. It will be ahead of the fuel tank. Loosen the outlet side by holding the stationary nut on the filter with an open-end wrench. Loosen the smaller nut with a second wrench. Pull the fuel line away from the filter.
Pull the inlet line off by separating the locking tab and pulling away from the filter. Allow the fuel line to dangle. Unbolt the filter from the underside of the car with a socket wrench. Replace with the new filter. Ensure the arrow on the filter is pointing toward the front of the car. The arrow designates fuel flow.
