Replace the fuel filter on your 1993 Eagle Vision using a couple of special tools, which you may buy at an auto parts store. However, in order to pressurize the fuel system after you change the filter, you need a special scan tool to access your Eagle Vision computer system. Chrysler dealers use the DRB III scanner, an expensive tool, for this purpose. Check to see if an alternative scan tool is available for rent from the parts store.
Tools Used: Tools, Wrench, Special tool C-4799-1, Container, Floor jack, Jack stand, Shop rag, Soft brush, Open-end wrench, Special tool 6751, Ratchet, Socket, 30W engine oil, DRB III scan tool or equivalent
Remove the Fuel Filter
Relieving the Fuel System Pressure
Open the hood of the Eagle Vision. Detach the negative (black) battery cable, using a wrench. Go around toward the rear of the vehicle and loosen the fuel filler cap. Open the hood and the fuel pressure test port on the fuel rail, where the fuel injectors attach. The test port is similar to the air valve on your tires.
Insert the open end of the special tool C-4799-1 hose into a container. Connect the fitting at the other end of the special tool to the test port, and allow the fuel to drain into the container. Remove the tool from the test port.
