The S-15, a small truck made by GMC, was introduced as a 1982 model. It was renamed the Sonoma in the 1991 model year, a nameplate that was used until 2003. In 2004 GMC’s small truck was completely redesigned and called the Canyon. The GMC Sonoma shared bodies and platforms with the Chevrolet S-10 pickup. The Sonoma came standard with a four-cylinder engine, but a more powerful V-6 was optional. Know the location of your Sonoma’s spare tire so that you will be better prepared in a roadside emergency.
