With the tank removed from your Pontiac Grand Am, you still need to gain access to the fuel pump located inside the gas tank. A specialized tool that you can get from your Pontiac dealer will make the task easier and prevent possible sparking when you remove the cam lock ring (bulkhead) that holds the cap on the top of the gas tank. The tool is called a J3976 tool.
