How to Choose the Oil and Fluids on a Pontiac Grand Prix

69

The Pontiac Grand Prix was produced from 1962 to 2008. Starting in 1988, it was marketed as a mid-size vehicle instead of a luxury car. These steps apply to all models years of the Grand Prix 1988 and later. Owners of vintage cars from the 1960s and 1970s may find that they have unique maintenance requirements.

Choose the Oil and Fluids

Use only SAE 5W30 engine oil in your Pontiac Grand Prix. Other viscosities, such as 20W50, aren’t compatible with your engine.

Mix one part clean, drinkable water, preferably distilled, to one part DEX-COOL coolant to keep your engine cooling system running. Other engine coolants may contribute to premature corrosion of engine components. Top off your power steering system as necessary with GM power steering fluid.
