Download How to Adjust Air Brakes on International Trucks – 1. International Place truck on a flat surface and air brakes applied by pulling the air brake knob. Leave the engine running. 2. Exit the truck and place the wheel chocks in front and behind the rear wheels. 3. Free air brakes, pushing the knob inward. 4. Slide underneath the rear of the truck International and locates the two slack adjusters on each side of the rear axle. The slack adjusters have an S-cam which extends outwards adjuster side of the rear wheel hub. 5. Adjustment screw located on the rear side of the adjuster. A pawl placed in a tube and screw. If the clamping yoke is spring pressed into the head of the key to unlock and rotate. Turn it clockwise to compress the brake shoes on the inner surface of the drums. Once the bolt stops turning, the shoes must be against the interior of the drums. Turn the flashlight through the back side of the wheel hub to make sure the shoes are fully applied to the drum. 6. Turning the adjustment screw counter-clockwise rotation between 1/4 and 1/2 turn to place the brake shoes at the appropriate distance from the inner surface of the drums. Follow this same process for both regulatory setting.
