Download Removal Procedure 1. Remove 2/3 of the brake fluid from the master cylinder. 2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information . 3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels. 4. Inspect the caliper operation. Refer to Brake Caliper Inspection . 5. Remove the caliper. Do not separate the brake hose from the caliper. Refer to Front Brake Caliper Replacement. 6. Suspend the caliper from the frame with mechanics wire. Do not allow the caliper to hang from the brake hose. 7. Remove the caliper mounting bracket bolts. 8. Remove the caliper mounting bracket from the steering knuckle assembly. 9. Remove the brake pads from the caliper mounting bracket. 10. Remove the clips from the inside ends of the caliper mounting bracket and discard. 11. Inspect the caliper and mounting bracket. Refer to Brake Caliper Inspection. Installation Procedure 1. Install the clips to the inside ends of the caliper mounting bracket. 2. Install the brake pads to the caliper mounting bracket. 3. Install the caliper mounting bracket to the steering knuckle assembly. Important: The caliper mounting bracket bolts contain a special adhesive locking patch that is not reusable. It is recommended that the bolts be replaced with new service bolts and torqued to the recommended specification. If the bolts must be reused, follow the adhesive patch replacement procedure. 4.1. Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch.
