When you are installing a security camera, you want both to cover the most area and to provide the most detail necessary. There are two factors that affect your camera’s ability to cover area and provide detail — the image sensor and the lens. The Charged-Couple Device is the image sensor; the larger the CCD, the more image detail it captures. It’s similar to megapixels on a digital camera. The lens brings the image to the image sensor and has the most impact on the area you can view with the security camera and the level of detail you can record. So choosing the right lens is important for the ideal function of your security camera.
Things You’ll Need : Tape measure
- Measure the distance from your security camera installation point to the area you want to record. Measure the width of the area you want to record. For example, if you want to record the door of your business and the two windows on either side, you would measure the full distance from one side to the other and then the distance from the door — in the middle — to the camera.
