Security systems have continued to evolve with modern technology, allowing users to record security camera footage to a digital video recorder instead of a simple tape and view the footage via the Internet. It will take a bit of networking knowledge to set up the DVR to be viewable online. You’ll need to know your router’s external internet protocol address as well as the internal address for your router and the DVR attached to the router.
Things You’ll Need : Network capable security DVR, Internet connection, Router, Security cameras, Internet Explorer.
- Connect your security camera DVR to your network router using a Cat-5 network cable. Log in to your router’s configuration utility. Type in the local IP address of your router in a Web browser’s address bar, for example: “http://192.168.1.1.” Check with your router manufacturer for the address of your router. Type in the password for your router and press “Enter.”
