How to Remove the Door Lock Solenoid on a Chevy Monte Carlo

Pull the door panel away from the door enough to disconnect all the electrical plugs. Disconnect the electrical plugs.

Pull the moisture barrier back at the rear of the door, exposing the access hole to the door lock mechanism. Disconnect the electrical plug on the door lock solenoid.

Drill out the rivets securing the door lock solenoid to the door. The rivets are on the outside rear of the door under the door latch. Disconnect the door lock solenoid from the door lock rod and withdraw the solenoid from the door.

Install the new door lock solenoid by hooking it to the door lock rod then holding it in place while the rivets are pushed into the door. Rivet the door lock solenoid to the door. Replace the remaining parts in reverse order of removal.
