How to Check the Fuel Delivery on a Nissan Maxima

14

The Nissan Maxima, also known as the Cefiro or Laurel in markets outside the United States, is a larger mid-size sedan manufactured as both an executive and sports vehicle. Variations include a two-door coupe, a four-door sedan and a four-door station wagon. Check fuel delivery on a Maxima if the engine runs rough, stalls in traffic or won’t start at all.

Check the Fuel Delivery

Relieve the pressure in the Nissan Maxima model’s fuel system. Disengage the fuel pump fuse. Start the engine and let it run until it stalls. Turn the ignition to the off position and disconnect the negative battery cable.

Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor vacuum hose. Check for fuel in the line. If there is fuel present in the line, the fuel delivery problem is likely due to a faulty fuel pump pressure regulator.
