The EVO 4G smart phone by HTC has many software and hardware features, including a Google Android operating system, a 4.3-inch capacitive multitouch screen, on-screen keyboard and two cameras — an 8-megapixel main autofocus camera and 1.3-megapixel front facing camera. The phone also features a “Power” button along the top edge, but powering off your EVO 4G isn’t as simple as pressing this button. The phone is designed with a screen lock that can, if turned on, interfere with powering off the device. Additionally, the phone requires that you confirm that you want to power it off entirely.
- Turn off your EVO 4G’s screen lock, if applicable, before powering off your phone. Tap the padlock on the screen, touch the “Screen Locked” bar, slide your finger down and uncheck the option when it appears. If you’ve set up a custom password or screen unlock pattern, enter the password or draw the pattern on the screen when prompted.
- Push down and hold the “Power” button on top of your phone for at least two seconds. Tap “Power Off” when prompted and then tap “OK” to confirm that you want to power off your phone. If done correctly, the phone should turn off.
