The BlackBerry roaming feature allows you to use either phone or messaging services if you are out of your provider’s service area or even out of the country. The caveat is that the roaming service generally costs more and fees can add up quickly. Even if you don’t use the phone, receiving emails or text messages while out of your service area can cause exorbitant charges. You can control the costs of your phone’s plan by turning off the roaming function.
Scroll to the Manage Connections icon on the BlackBerry and press the trackball to open it.
Select Mobile Network Options from the list and press the trackball to open the network settings.
Scroll to Data Services, press the trackball, scroll to Off When Roaming and press the trackball again to save this setting. You have now turned off the roaming feature on your BlackBerry.
