How to Check the Fuel Lines and Fuel Pump on a Plymouth Neon

15

Two things make an internal combustion engine function: fuel and fire. If the engine in a Neon isn’t working the way it should, then it’s because there’s a restriction on one or the other. If it’s fuel, then the two most common problems are a clogged fuel filter and a malfunctioning fuel pump. Check the filter for clogs, and then check the pump and fuel lines.

Tools Used: Tools, Floor jack, Jack stands, Replacement parts, Clean bucket, Adjustable wrench

Lift the rear end of the Neon with a floor jack, and support it by the frame with jack stands. Slide underneath the back of the car, and locate the fuel tank centered under the backseat. At the front of the tank, there’s a small circular panel that covers the fuel pump.
