How to Change the Battery on a Pontiac G6

32

The battery in a Pontiac G6 provides the power necessary for all of the electrical equipment. You should check your battery every year. You may need to replace it if the G6 becomes difficult to start. When you crank the engine, and the engine cranks slowly, this can be an indication of a battery that is losing its charge. Since cold weather can sap the strength of a battery rather quickly, it’s important to check and replace the battery before winter if you live in the northern part of the country.

Tools Used: Tools, Socket wrench, 10 mm socket

Change the Battery

Open the hood and remove the two nuts holding the battery tie down to the battery. The battery tie is a plastic strap that runs lengthwise across the battery. Pull the battery tie down off the battery.
