Two things make an internal combustion engine function: fuel and fire. If the engine in a Grand Prix isn’t working the way it should, then it’s because there’s a restriction on one or the other. If it’s fuel, then the two most common problems are a clogged fuel filter and a malfunctioning fuel pump. Check the filter for clogs, and then check the pump and fuel lines.

Check the Fuel Lines and Fuel Pump
Lift the rear end of the Grand Prix with a floor jack, and support it with jack stands. Locate the gas tank centered under the car below the trunk. The fuel lines run from it to the engine compartment along the bottom of the car.
