The hydraulic motor mount in a Pontiac Sunfire contains a small chamber filled with hydraulic fluid that absorbs engine vibrations. As the vehicle ages, this chamber can develop air leaks, reducing the effectiveness of the mount. A faulty hydraulic motor mount can increase the vibrations felt from inside the passenger cabin. Replacement motor mounts are available from auto parts stores, General Motors new car dealerships and automotive salvage yards.

Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface and turn off the engine. Set the parking brake, open the hood and let the engine cool for at least 60 minutes. Slide an automotive jack under the engine, beneath the oil pan and raise it up so the jack is touching the bottom of the oil pan.
