How to Improve Flow in HP Ink Cartridges

16

HP Ink cartridges have software settings that make it possible to clean the cartridge heads and conserve ink. Additionally, you can apply some manual changes to the cartridges to make them run more efficiently. Business owners can’t afford to waste ink, so setting up printers to run more efficiently helps to save money and improve the effectiveness of the printer.

1. Click the Windows orb and type “Printers” into the search box. Select “Devices and Printers.” Right-click on your printer under the Printers and Faxes section and select “Properties.” Select the “Advanced” tab and check “Printing Defaults.” Choose “Fast/Economical Printing” or similar setting on the Printing Preferences.

2. Minimize the amount of time between print jobs when possible. When a printer sits, ink clogs in the print cartridge and more ink is lost when the print heads are cleaned before each use.

3. Clean the print cartridges by removing them from their hangers and attaching a piece of tape over the print nozzle and electronic sensors. Pull the tape off quickly to remove clogged ink.

4. Open the Print Setup page when you want to a document. Navigate to Printer Preferences and select “Print in Grayscale With the Black Cartridge Only.”
