The HP LaserJet 6P is a professional-grade network laser printer first produced in the mid-1990s. They were built to withstand heavy office use, so you’ll still find LaserJet 6Ps in small businesses and home offices. Because LaserJets are network printers, if you purchase one used you’ll need to reset the printer to clear the old network settings. Once you’ve reset your LaserJet the original factory settings are restored and you can reprogram it for use on your office network.
1. Turn the printer’s power off.
2. Hold down the job cancel button. This is the small round button on the display panel with a downward-pointing triangle on it.
3. Turn the power back on while pressing the job cancel button. Hold this button for fewer than 20 seconds to reset the network settings. Hold it down for more than 20 seconds to also reset the service mode settings and print count.
