Lexmark printers contain a memory chip that stores errors, maintenance-related data and ink cartridge levels. Sometimes, after you’ve replaced the ink cartridges, the printer’s LCD screen or maintenance application on your computer will display incorrect ink levels. When this happens, performing a “power cycle” will reset the ink cartridge memory.
1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
2. Wait approximately one minute to allow the ink cartridge memory to reset.
3. Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.
4. Check the ink levels to verify that they are correct. Depending on the Lexmark model you own, you can do this from the printer’s LCD screen or by launching the printer monitoring software on your computer. You can usually find this program on the Desktop taskbar or in the “Start” menu.
