Disabling the Battery Light on an EVO

63

The EVO has a small, light-emitting diode located under the speaker grille on its front panel. While it can flash to indicate that you have notifications, the light also indicates when the phone is connected to a charger or when the battery is low. Since it could be the only confirmation that the phone’s charging circuits are operating properly, HTC has set the EVO up to prevent you from disabling the battery light. However, it’s small enough that you can easily cover it.

Things You’ll Need : Black electrical tape, Small scissors, Cotton swab, Pure isopropyl alcohol

Dampen a cotton swab with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol. It should be damp enough to clean the grille, but not so damp that the alcohol drips into the phone.

Use the cotton swab to clean the area of the grille over the battery light. Wait a few seconds for it to dry. Cut a small square of electrical tape — approximately 3 mm on a side should be more than large enough. Apply the electrical tape over the battery light. It should now be covered so that it no longer bothers you.
