You can place the HTC EVO into recovery mode to fix an issue with hardware, software or a third-party application. To recover the HTC EVO, use the Reset feature. Reset deletes all data on the smartphone and restores the device to its original factory settings. You can reset the EVO with the touchscreen controls, or with the device keys.
Press the “Home” key. Press the “Menu” key below the display screen. Tap the “Settings” option. Select “Privacy,” then “Factory Data Reset.” Tap the “Reset Phone” button. Wait for the HTC EVO to complete the reset procedure. The phone will power down and power up again at the end of the reset process.
Power off the EVO. Press and hold the volume-down button on the right panel of the phone. Press the power button at the same time.
Wait for the display screen to activate, then immediately release the volume-down button. Use the volume buttons to select the “Clear Storage” option displayed on the screen. Press the power button to complete the reset procedure.
