With the HTC Evo mobile phone, there are two ways to back up your information and files. One way allows you to back up your phone automatically using your Google account, while the other allows you to use your PC to back up your phone. Whether you use Google or your computer, backing up your HTC Evo phone prevents you from losing settings, files, contacts and calendar events.
Press the “Menu” button at the bottom of your Home screen. Select the “Settings” button, then the “Accounts & sync” menu. Tap the “Add Account” button to select the type of account you want to add. Tap the “Google” button, then the “Next” button.
Follow the instructions to enter your Google account information. Google will be added to the Accounts & sync section and your HTC Evo phone will be automatically backed up to your Google account. Check your Google Gmail or Calendar account to view the information you backed up.
Using a PC
Connect your HTC Evo phone to your computer using the USB cable that came with your phone. Wait for the “Connect to PC” screen to appear on your phone.
Tap the “Disk drive” button, then tap the “Done” button. Your phone’s microSD card will be recognized by your PC as a removable disk. Click the “Start” menu on your PC, then click “Computer” to view your phone’s microSD card.
Double-click the microSD card icon to view its contents. Drag and drop the HTC Evo files that you want to back up from the microSD card to another folder on your computer. Unplug the USB cable from the PC and phone when you are done backing up your HTC Evo.
