The keyboard on any phone is essential to everyday use for typing text messages and emails or dialing numbers. When the keyboard malfunctions, it disrupts the use of your phone. There are a few things you can checked and try for troubleshooting to fix your keyboard problem. They will only take about 10 minutes.

Place your thumb firmly on the back cover and press down away from the camera. This will open up the back of the phone and allow you to see the battery and the phone’s insides.
Look for any moisture or swollen areas on the battery or phone. If it is damp, allow to fully air dry or use a blow dryer on the lowest setting. Put the phone back together and press the power key on the right side of the phone. Test out the keyboard to see if it is working correctly.
Go to the home screen of the phone if the keyboard is still not functioning properly. Press the stylus on the “Start” menu. Select the “Settings” option. Tap the “Systems” tab and select “Clear storage.” At the prompt for the password, enter “1234.” Then press the “OK” option. This will reset the phone back to its factory settings. While this will erase any personal information saved to the phone, it also can clear up any software problems causing the keyboard to malfunction.

- Check the warranty on the phone. If the reset did not fix the keyboard and there is not any physical or liquid damage, the seller should replace the phone if it is still under warranty.
